Creative Corner – Savannah Morgan
This week on Creative Corner, I’m thrilled to have a chance to chat with romance author Savannah Morgan. I think you’ll agree this is one interesting lady!
Meet: Savannah Morgan
I have traveled the world, dove the deepest sea, climbed the highest mountains. I’ve fought against tyranny and injustice, and brought evil to a grinding halt. I have been a queen’s handmaiden, made kings and lived the life of a princess. I’ve built realms and destroyed empires. I have owned businesses and been a work drone; run fortune 500 companies, and even been an irreplaceable assistant. I’ve written winning PR campaigns for product and evil candidates alike.
I have been a desperate housewife and the sexy neighbor next door. I’ve built towns, created lovely art, photographed the world and produced crafty little items. I have been betrayed, found the answer to the secret within the lie, and found love in the most unlikely places. I’ve scratched and clawed my way out of dissolute situations and I have caused those I love pain.
I can fly a fighter jet and swoop in for a rescue in a chopper taking fire. I am an expert with weaponry and can dismantle a bomb. I’m a brilliant chemist and have found the cure for the worst diseases.
I am your best friend and your worst enemy. I am the shoulder you cry on, yet I caused you the pain.
I am magical. I am a Warrior Goddess who will smite you down or send a faerie in to help you find true love. I can shift into any creature I wish to be. I am all these things great and small, and more…in the fertile depths of my imagination.
In truth, I live in Central MS with my husband and two dogs and live a simple life, which I love. I have an adventurous spirit and thoroughly enjoy seeing new places while meeting new and interesting people.
The Interview:
The Basics:
- Welcome, Savannah. Thanks for joining me here on Creative Corner. What should my readers know about you?
I’m married to my college sweetheart. I’ve lived all over the US and in Germany. I enjoy traveling and meeting new people. I love animals. I love to read. And, I love being an author
- What are the 3 words that best describe you?
Loyal, Unique, and Artistic
- Tell us about your work.
At the moment I’m writing full time, but I’m looking for a day job.
As for my writing, I believe in strong character and story development. I also believe in a strong familial base, whether that base is blood related or family of friends who have banded together to become a family unit. I also like for there to be a strong criminal element or something from current events in my stories. This plot twist is what brings my male and female protagonists together so they can fight as a unit against the big bad. It’s also important for there to be a strong attraction, and, yes, a sexual component to my stories. However, I’m not the type of author that will stop the action for the hero and heroine to jump in bed together. I like realism in my stories. This is the reason why Dakota’s Autumn wasn’t as steamy as my other stories. To have Shane and Autumn jump into bed wouldn’t have been believable and would have, in my opinion, detracted from the story and even the love story between them.
In my PNR stories, I like for there to be a bit of whimsy and humor to balance the darkness of the paranormal story.
- Which piece of work are you most proud of?
Oh, that’s a hard one. I’m proud of everything I put out, but if I have to pick one piece of work, I’d have to say it is the Touch of the Irish collection. I think the stories are solid, and the editing was better.
Actually, with each new story, I feel my writing and my teams editing gets stronger. I’m really proud of my editing team.
- What other creative endeavors do you enjoy?
I feel I’m a creative person. I enjoy doing my own graphics and book covers, but I also enjoy creating my own swag, such as calendars, character flip books, and notebooks. I’ve even been making my own bookmarks. Outside of book related crafting, I enjoy crocheting, cooking, music and Native American crafting such as pottery, weaving (need to practice this one more), and making dream-catchers. I would like to eventually try my hand at jewelry making. I have several ideas for charms, necklaces and rings.
- Are you a publicity-lover, or publicity shy?
No one will believe this, but I am a shy in person. I love meeting people online, but in a public setting I am very reserved.
- I love music, and I’m always interested in the musical tastes of my friends. Tell me your 3 favorite songs.
Music is a passion of mine. I love sitting at a keyboard and composing, although I would never let anyone hear my songs. LOL
I’m going to pick my favorite songs from how I’m feeling at the moment. These change moment to moment. Haha
- Hail to the King – Avenge Sevenfold
- Ride – Chase Rice
- Broken or Nobody Prayin’ for Me – Seether
Those songs were picked due mainly for the beat. I’m a headbanging rocker chick. I love my heavy metal. haha
- What song best describes your life?
Coming Undon – Korn
Bwahaha.
The Glamorous, Dangerous Romance Section:
- You are offered, free for one year, the use of either a customized, fully staffed jet (say a Bombardier Learjet 40XR), or a fully-staffed luxury yacht (perhaps a 150-foot vessel built by Palmer Johnson). Which do you choose?
Definitely the yacht.
- Fabulous! Where are we going?
Anywhere there is a lot of water, but first we need to make a tour of the Virgin Islands and then on to the Greek Islands.
- Who are we bringing with us?
Friends, and of course my Hubby and two dogs.
- I love to shop! And guess what? An eccentric billionaire has offered us his charge card for a day of shopping; with one caveat…we can only go to one store. Where are we going?
I love local markets over department stores. You can get a real taste of the area and culture in local markets and find some of the most unique things to buy.
- What do we buy there?
Anything that catches our eyes, but I’m heading to the locally made crafts and jewelry.
- Which of the following soap operas most resembles your life: All My Children, Grey’s Anatomy, Dynasty or The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills?
Yikes, I’ve only watched Grey’s Anatomy.
- Which celebrity would you most like to star with in a romantic movie?
Johnny Depp. If you’ve never seen him in Chocolat or The Man Who Cried, you really should.
- The setting for this movie is a private island. Where is it located?
Somewhere remote and uncharted.
- What do we find there?
Wilderness that makes us shed our inhibitions.
- Now comes the danger…This lover’s paradise has an unforeseen danger. What is it?
Smugglers
- Naturally, this danger imperils the love of your life. How do you save him/her?
Easy, I’m the leader of the smuggling ring and call my men off. Why else would I want to be on an uncharted remote island. I’m a pirate. HAHA
Interviewee’s Choice: (please answer 3 of the following questions)
- If you were given $1,000,000 to donate to the charity of your choice, which one would you choose?
That’s a tough question. I’d have to split it between three charities. $400,000 would go to Military with PTSD. They have a yard sign campaign that allows military members with PTSD to put in their yards warning their neighbors a combat soldier lives there and to be courteous with fireworks.
I’d have to give $300,000 to RAINN: Rape, Abuse, Incest National Network
And the last $300,000 would go to CARA – Community Animal Rescue and Adoptions in Jackson, MS to assist them in feeding, housing, and care of all the animals they take in and find homes for. They are a no-kill shelter and run mainly on donations from the community.
- What was the last concert you attended? Did you enjoy it?
Hinder, Egypt Central and Aranda in October, 2011. I enjoyed Aranda’s show immensely. Egypt Central was a bit too combative for me though. LOL
However, as much a I love Hinder’s music, after seeing them live I swore I would never go to another one of their concerts, due to the lead singers gross behavior on stage. I have recently heard that about a year or so after that concert Hinder’s lead singer went into rehab and eventually left the group, being replaced by Marshal Dutton. I haven’t heard Hinder with Dutton in the lead spot, but since Winkler is no longer with them, I’d give them another try live.
- If someone were to base a reality show on your life, what would it be called?
Tempestuous Faith
The Personal Touch:
- What draws you to romance and romantic suspense, in particular?
I don’t know that it was any one thing that drew me to the genre of romantic suspense. I guess it was the fact I’ve always been a suspense/mystery/true crime buff and every story is a love story in some way. In Romance I get to show that love in detail. hahaha
- If you were to write in another genre, which would it be? Why?
Faith based romance, so my mom could read my books. I’ve actually thought of writing a couple of books in this genre so she could. She’s devout in her faith in God and won’t read my books due to the graphic nature of the violence and explicitness of the love scenes. Oh, yeah, and the language. LOL But she’s proud of my accomplishments and wants to read them. Who knows, maybe one day I can take the time to make them My Mom friendly. 😉
- You’re given a chance to turn one of your books into a move. Which one do you choose? Why?
Oh that’s easy, Dakota’s Autumn. I want to see that book and others in that series on the big screen, or the little one. It has everything, great suspense, women who are strong, brilliant, confident, but can be feminine and soft when they want to without losing any of their edge or intelligence. It has Military Alpha men who are now working as Homeland Security Agents. Intrigue. Passion. Danger. Love. Suspense.
You do know I could go on and on about this one. haha
- Who do you cast in the starring roles?
This one is a little harder. When I think of Shane Black I sort of picture Martin Sensmeier, and when I think of Autumn Bennett I sort of think of Hayden Panettiere, but with darker hair with a bit of red in it.
- You’re offered the part of your choice. Which part do you take?
I think I’d like to Lea Wystan. She’s tough, yet sensitive. Strong, yet gentle. Smart, loyal, and she gets to blow shit up. LOL
- We’re going to be in a rock band with our mutual friend, John Leith. What’s the name of our group?
John and his Harem. Bwahaha
- Who does the singing?
John. Definitely John. I’ve heard his voice, and I know he was in a band some years back.
- What instruments do we play?
I’m on keyboards. I don’t know about the rest of you. LOL
- What’s the name of our first single?
Ladies Call
You do know he’ll kill me for this section. Bwahahaha

- Where can my readers purchase your work?
At the moment I’m fairly exclusive with Amazon, but that is going to change in 2016. I will be moving everything except my PNR titles over to Smashwords and D2D for a larger distribution. I’m also working to get my paperbacks into Barnes and Noble and Books-A-Million. I think the first B&N store will probably be in Spokane Washington, with a little luck, we’ll have them in that store before Christmas.
- Please provide any other links my readers might find useful.
This is my Amazon Author page, which they can follow and get updates delivered to their email.
